Chapter 7 - A Challenge

Leaving the dungeon was far simpler than I expected. Sharna's rampage had been so fast paced and complete that nothing had a chance to spawn in behind us. Benny and his family assisted us all the same since the half-orc was understandably a bit unsteady. In all honesty, anyone being up and around minutes after having a child would be impressive, yet Sharna just strapped the infant to her chest after gearing up like it was nothing.

Before long we found ourselves back outside where much of the commotion we had caused had died down. Sharna did not need much prodding to head back to her trailer and take the rest of the day to recover. That left me with a bit of time before I would normally call it a day. It had already been a long one and I was preparing to do just that when a familiar figure walked up to the side of the truck.

Sam the Ogreman

Level 17 | Porter

"Magical Munch!" Sam bellowed, banging on the closed awning with a meaty fist. "You home Munch?"

"Whoa take it easy, Sam," I said, running up next to him. "I'm here."

"Am looking for Munch," the ogre said, shaking the whole truck with his knock.

Flabbergasted, I ran around to the service door while Benny's family stared in disbelief. The entire truck swayed back and forth under Sam's blows, knocking dishes and ingredients from their shelves. It was all I could do to get the window open, yet all I could think about was what would happen if he disturbed Sharna right now.

"Hey Sam!" I said louder than I intended as I pushed the awning up. "What can I do for you?"

"Hi Munch. Got your stuff."

"Thanks Sam . If you'd like, you can just set everything down there. I know there's quite a bit."

"Munch sign."

"Yup, no problem. I can sign for everything."

"Munch sign first."

"Sure, no problem."

"Munch sign then I give stuff."

"Absolutely, if you could just give me something to sign I'd be happy to."

The ogre just stared back at me with a blank expression. He realized I was who he was looking for this time, so that was progress. Something had thrown him though. Just when I thought he was going to need more coaxing, he thrust a tablet over the counter nearly knocking me over. Before Sam could change his mind, I made my mark and accepted the delivery. After taking another moment to process, the ogre began shoving his delivery through the window, clearing the counter at the same time.

"Oh hey, that's not necessary," I stammered, trying to catch utensils and napkins while the first crate came through. "You can just set that stuff outside and I'll get it!"

Once Sam made up his mind, it was done. No matter what I said box after box entered through the serving window. The ogre's focus was singular in completing his task while I did what I could to minimize the mess.

"Job done, Munch," was the last thing I heard as the massive porter wandered off to whatever job awaited him.
